Thu Duc Nguyen is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Rutgers University, and is currently serving as Chair of the department.
He is Associate Director for Cyberinfrastructure of the Rutgers Discovery Informatics Institute and Associate Director of the Rutgers Center for Information Assurance.
He is a member of the Faculty Advisory Board for the Rutgers Office of Advanced Research Computing. His research interests include scalable, efficient,
and dependable computing systems, sustainable computing, computing for sustainability, information management and retrieval, and computer science education.
He is currently leading and participating in multiple large-scale multidisciplinary research projects that seek to bring together high-performance computing,
big data storage systems, data science and domain science to enhance scientific discovery.
He is also leading and participating in multiple efforts for building interdisciplinary computer/data science education programs at Rutgers and working with high schools and community colleges
to improve computer science education outside of Rutgers.
